The FTC alleges Hims & Hers hid its cancel button

The US FTC, with Utah and Los Angeles County, sued Hims & Hers. It alleges people were charged as soon as they submitted intake forms, that the cancel option was hidden behind several steps, and that health data was shared with ad platforms. These are allegations; the case is ongoing.

High severity

Lawsuit filed

What happened

01

The complaint was filed on 29 July 2026 in federal court in California.

02

It alleges ads promised people could talk to a provider before paying.

03

It alleges the online cancel option sat behind several navigation steps.

04

It also alleges health information was shared with Meta, Snap and others.

Why this is a design failure

When paying is instant and leaving is hidden, people keep paying for care they meant to stop.

The fair alternative

Show the price before any form, and put cancel where people manage their plan.

Do

Show the full price before people share health details.

Don’t

Don’t hide cancel behind menus.

Company response

Hims & Hers called the claims baseless and said it will defend itself.
